Our Story

We met in high school. He was the quiet nerdy guy and I was the social, slightly obnoxious, hot mess girl. We were unlikely friends, but I enjoyed stealing his candy and talking to anyone that would listen. We never dated but we stayed close friends. After high school, we both went off in different directions but stayed in contact. He was my best friend and we talked about pretty much everything. Occasionally our paths would cross and we would get together, but mostly we just kept in contact through Facebook and texting. Eventually we ended up living fairly close to each other and would do lunch here and there. I ended up getting married and he was the only person who was not family or wedding party that attended. He even caught the garter (talk about irony). Eventually he got married as well. We still talked, not quite as much because our spouses didn’t like us talking. Eventually my marriage started falling apart. My ex husband was an alcoholic and abusive. During one of the really rough patches, I found out my best friend was in the hospital. He was in acoma and they weren’t sure if he would wake up. When he did wake up he was placed on the transplant list. I was so worried but there wasn’t much I could do. Eventually his marriage deteriorated as well. Then about 2.5 years ago I finally took the leap and left my ex husband. I moved to the city with my kids for a promotion. And guess who had recently gotten divorced and was living close to me? My best friend. He came over and helped me through the fear and sadness of moving away from everyone I knew.. and the rest is for another chapter….
